An Improvement on MAC in Wireless Sensor Network based on Energy-saving Target

To save energy for nodes in wireless sensor network with multi-user sharing of unauthorized spectrum,an improved MAC protocol based on IEEE802.15.4,is proposed.And by setting a threshold in CTS,the transmitting route is divided into several segments and for communications in an individual segment,the handshake mechanism proposed by Mao-heng Sun is adopted,while for those between different segments,the traditional handshake mechanism in IEEE802.11 is used.The threshold could be set with experience,thus to change the length of segments for different situations.Simulation indicates the feasibility of this method in reducing power consumption.
