The requirement of the running time and accuracy of the motion estimate searching algorithm for the mobile video communication is proposed.Based on the study of the fast block matching algorithm for the motion estimate the principle is described.Three main problems existed in the algorithm improvement, namely the selection of the initial searching point, the matching criteria and the searching strategy, are revealed. The solution algorithms are described and compared. The future development trend of the motion estimate algorithm is discussed.
