Layer-based Node Deployment Algorithm in Wireless Sensor Network

Reducing energy consumption to prolong network lifetime with limited energy resource is one of the most import challenges in wireless sensor network. In this paper, based on the rectangular deployment field, we propose an energy consumption balance model to maximize the lifetime of sensor networks, and a layer -based non -uniform node deployment algorithm for wireless sensor networks. The width of the layer is computed ed by node energy consumption. Also, the number of nodes in every layer is determined. Simulation results show that non-uniform node deployment algorithm can effectively extend the lifetime of the sensor network.
