The implementation of serial communication between PC and SCM in Unix

The principle and detailed method of serial communication between PC and SCM (Single Chip Microcomputer) in Unix are presented in this paper. The system composition is introduced and the implementation of both PC and SCM side is offered. Because of the communication program accomplished using system call and process mechanism in Unix, the direct access to hardware of low level is avoided, and advantages of facility, high stability and high efficiency are realized. The general process of communication and the design principle of brief communication protocol are also expounded. The program on the PC side is written in C, and that on the SCM side is done in assembly language of MCS-51.
