A single-sideband QPSK modulation scheme

This paper proposes a single-sideband(SSB) QPSK modulation scheme. At the sending end, firstly the double-sideband(DSB) QPSK modulated signal is generated, then a proper filter to get the single-sideband QPSK signal is used.At the receiving end,in order to demodulation correctly, the key technology is using a Hilbert filter to create the conjugate frequency spectrum component.Using Miller code can reduce the negative influence of Hilbert filter. The analysis shows that the bit error rate(BER) of this SSB QPSK modulation scheme is 3dB lower than that of DSB QPSK modulation scheme, but the bandwidth of this SSB QPSK modulation signal is only half of the DSB QPSK modulation signal. As a conclusion, this SSB QPSK modulation scheme is useful, especially at the bandwidth-limited data transmission system.
