Alternating projection algorithm-based wide-band deterministic maximum likelihood direction finding

The wide-band direction finding is one of the key projects in communication and signal processing. It has important applications in many fields.This paper derives the cost function of wide-band deterministic maximum likelihood direction finding algorithm under the assumption of Gaussian noise and deterministic source,and then the function is optimized by alternating projection algorithm.The direction of arrival is estimated without preprocessing of array data and so the algorithm eliminates the effect of pre-estimate on the final estimation result. The algorithm is applied to uniform linear array and extensive simulation results prove the effectiveness of the algorithm. It has a broad application in wide-band direction finding.
