Study for XML Technology Applied to Heterogeneous Database Integration

This paper proposed an effective XML-based transformation mechanism demonstrating the data integration process between relational database and document-based database. In that heterogeneous environment, Oracle 8i database server and Lotus Domino R5 server are used as two primary platforms of different data sources. A summary-oriented report generating application running on an Oracle 8i server is developed to show that the XML documents can act as the suitable data enchange bases.
