This paper presents a wireless Ad hoc network reliable UDP protocol (ARUDP) to ensure reliable data transmission in consideration of TCP's low performance in Ad hoc network. By defining the protocol's packet header and data type and emphasizing on its acknowledgement mechanism and optimized retransmission mechanism on Ad hoc networks, the reliability and efficiency advantages of ARUDP are theoretically analyzed. In the end, experimental comparison of ARUDP and SRUDP in NS-2 has testified the favorable throughput performance of ARUDP under different conditions of packet size and node movement velocity.
