Adaptive MB Intra Update for Internet Video Transmission

Abstract Packet loss resilience is an important issue for internet video transmission. In this paper,we propose a novel adaptive intra update method which can quickly update the damaged image regions. The ratio of intra updated macro blocks is adaptively adjusted according to the video content and the channel transmission property. Simulation results demonstrate that our method achieves substantial and consistent gains in PSNR over the non adaptive methods such as random intra update. Because of its low complexity,it is also applicable to practical system.
