How to improve software reusability is an important topic in software engineering. The development of OO technology is a great progress of software development. However, it remains difficult to realize large_granularity reuse or to increase the maintainability and scalability of software. The advent of computer based software engineering (CBSE) is hopeful of solving this problem fundamentally. This paper discussed the concept,characteristics of CBSE,its developing method and management. A comparison between CBSE and conventional technology of software engineering was also made.
