Slot Assignment Strategies of Spatial Reuse TDMA in Multi-hop Wireless Networks

Yuanming Wu · Communications technology · 2010

In the multi-hop radio networks, spatial reuse TDMA is proposed as an access scheme. The idea is to increase capacity by letting several radio terminals use the same time slot when possible.A time slot could be shared when the radio units are geographically separated such that small interference is produced. In reuse scheduling, there are several alternative assignment methods.Traditionally, transmission rights are given to nodes or to links.A comparison of these two approaches is given, and it shows that both have undesirable properties in certain cases,Furthermore,a novel assignment strategy is proposed, which integrates the advantages of both methods.Simulation results indicate that the proposed method could achieve the throughput of link assignment for high traffic loads as well as the lower delay characteristics of node assignment for low traffic loads.
