Contaminated environment remediation with bentonite

A study on the remediation of contaminated environment by using bentonite both at home and abroad is reviewed. Having excellent adsorptive properties , natural bentonite and modified bentonite(such as activated bentonite,organobentonite,cross linked bentonite and organic cross linked bentonite) have been widely used in environmental control . Bentonite is an effective adsorbent for the removal of organic contaminates and heavy metals from wastewater . Researches have been conducted on the remediation of polluted soils and underground water. Besides,theoretical studies of bentonite used for radioactive waste treatment have been an active subject in recent years.
