Software Process Oriented Cost Metric and Control

Hongtao Chen · Journal of Zhejiang Ocean University · 2006

A cost model based on modules or function points cannot meet the requirement of software pro-cess control. The goal of software process oriented cost control is to obtain stable process productivity; viz. cost is a definitive function of the process cost drivers. Firstly, the paper provides the way to define reusable soft-ware process for cost metric, and then proposes how to select metric parameter. Utilizing history data, the cost function of a software process can be constructed, the function can be used to estimate software cost. Finally the paper tries to apply Statistical Process Control to software cost control, to improve process maturity on cost control.
