Risk assessment technology on damage tolerance structure with cracks

The theory of Fracture Mechanics considers that failure of the structure is due to the continuous propagation of crack,but damage tolerance structure would be safety when there is certain damage (crack).For assessing the risk of the damage tolerance structure which contains the damage(crack),a method id developed it that take the crack length as the parameter.It gives a detailed analyze for the instantaneous crack length and the critical crack length,then establishes the interference relationship of them.Afterwards it could calculate the structure risk with the current crack size by the Monte-Carlo method.Finally,the illustrative example shows that method is simple and feasible.
