Overview of wireless MAN technologies and standard

In this paper the developing process and current situation of Wireless MAN standard IEEE 802.16 of broadband wireless access and WiMAX is introduced.Emphasis goes to the architecture,including main technologies of Media Access Control layer,physical layer and QoS guarantee mechanism in MAC layer;the service flow management,packet scheduling algorithm and emphasis of further research are introduced.The development of Wireless MAN industry and comparison with 3G technology is summarized in the end.
