Objective To investigate the construction of three-dimensional (3D) finite element model of ossi-cular chain by using Micro-CT scanning. Methods A normal temporal bone specimen of adult was scanned with Micro-CT for section images, which were managed with MicroView and Mimics software to form a geometric model. The model was imported to Remesh module for optimization and then the 3D finite element model of ossicular chain was constructed by Abaqus/Ansys.Results A 3D finite element solid mesh model of ossicular chain including malleus incus and stapes was established successfully. After 3D meshing in Mimics, the model had 2 050 points and 1 350 tetrahedral elements. Conclusions Finite element model built by using Micro-CT and Mimics showed more precise character of ossicular chain and also provided a reasonably effective model for biomechanical analysis of ossicular chain.
