The Clinical Study of Plasma Brain Natriuretic Peptide Concentration and Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Hypertension
Yafeng Zhou · 2004
Objective To study the relationshop between brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and left ventricular hypertrophy in hypertension. Methods From 21 patients with mild-to-moderate hypertinsion plasma BNP was obtained and echocardiography was performed to aquire left ventricular mass index(LVMI).E/A ratio. Result Compared with patients with left ventricular hypertrophy, left ventricular hypertrophy has similar FS and LVEF (P0.05),lower E/A ratio(0.68±0.11 vs 0.80± 0.14 ,P0.05),and higher BNP concentration(54.08±9.90 pg/ml vs 35.28±12.14 pg/ml P 0.05 ).Plasma BNP was positively realated to LVMI(r=0.67 P0.001) and negatively related to E/A ratio(r=-0.64 P0.01). Conclusion Plasma BNP could reflct the left ventricular hypertrophy and cardiac diastolic function.
