Analysis of the TCP Performance over Satellite Link
Ye Jin · Vacuum Electronics · 2003
TCP as the main transfer protocol of TCP/IP stack has significant impact on the transfer performance of IP network. However, some inherent characteristics of satellite link impair the TCP performance. These characteristics differ from terrestrial channels. This paper first concludes such characteristics and analyzes their effects to the TCP performance, then introduces and evaluates corresponding TCP enhancements that may allow TCP to better utilize the available bandwidth provided by networks containing satellite links.
