An Outline of Antidepressants

The outline of antidepressants is reviewed, including the mechanism of action, the classification and the progress. The mechanism is related to monoamine transmitter hypothesis, neurotransmitter receptor hypothesis and post-receptor signal transduction hypothesis. The antidepressants are classified into TCAs, MAOIs, RIMAs, SSRIs, NaRIs, SNRIs and NaSSAs.
