Comparison and Performance Testing among H.265/HEVC, VP9 and H.264 Algorithm
HE Haidon · Radio & TV Broadcast Engineering · 2014
The algorithm analysis and performance comparison of H.265, H.264 and VP9 has been presented in this paper in details. The picture quality of H.265 is superior to that of VP9 due to better intra-prediction, entropy encoding plan and post process algorithms. Experimental results based on PSNR show that H.265 provides the average bitrate saving of 38% and 12% relative to H.264 and VP9, respectively. H.265 provides better parallel algorithm than VP9.
