Research on interworking between SIP and ISUP protocol

Cheng Ji · Telecommunications for Electric Power System · 2005

SIP protocol is a controlling protocol of application layer based on IP protocol defined by IETF, which acts as the kernel controlling protocol of NGN with finality. ISDN user part (ISUP) protocol is a major protocol of signaling system No.7. The paper firstly investigates and analyzes SIP and ISUP protocols, then brings out the specific inter working architecture, mapping method and calling flow between two protocols based on analysis and comparison on the layer of inter working. We make instructive exploration and practice based on the idea of network amalgamation, provide the reference to design kernel devices of MGC/ softswitch and provide a solution for PSTN network to evolve to softswitch network smoothly.
