A Buffer Overflow Detection Method based on Taint Analysis

Feng Sun · 2012

Buffer overflow is the one of the most often-seen attacks, and nearly 90% of the network attacks are cause by it.To address this issue,a dynamic analysis approach is introduced. The approach uses the taint analysis to track the propagation of network dataflow, and throws an alarm when the abnormal use of network data is detected.Experimental results show that it can efficiently detect a variety of buffer overflow attacks.
