Life Cycle Cost Estimation Methods for Weaponry

Several commonly used methods to predict life cycle cost for weaponry in China are reviewed in this paper, including analogy method, experts method, engineering method and parameters method. These methods are analyzed with respect to their characteristics and applicability. Especially, the theories and techniques used in parameters estimation method are discussed, including regression analysis and its improvement, artificial neural network, grey system theory and support vector machines. One of difficult problems of these prediction methods is the dependence on past cost data of weaponry. One of the latest prediction methods-cost calculation method-is given more attention with its essence and features.
