New Lightning Rod System of Eliminating Magnetism and Arc and Its Application in Oil Depot Protection from Lightning

According to the characteristics of lightning protection for oil depots, a new kind of lightning rod system of eliminating magnetism and arc has been developed. The principle, configuration and technical features of the system are described, and the concrete measures adopted in the practical application of the system in a depot located in the Southwest Region of China are presented. Compared with traditional lightning rods, the new system is able to decrease electromagnetic induction and spark effect as well as to reduce the levels of spark induction and main current induction. The new lightning rod is safe, reliable, practical and convenient.
