Fast intra mode selection for MPEG-2 to AVS video transcoding

In this paper,we propose an efficient intra-prediction mode selection algorithm for MPEG-2 to AVS video transcoding.Firstly,we analyze the process of intra prediction of AVS.Using DCT coefficients from MPEG-2 decoder,we estimate the transform domain energy distributing and choice the best mode for intra-prediction.Bases on this,a fast intra-prediction mode decision algorithm can availably reduce the computation cost.The simulation results of many test sequences show that the proposed algorithm increases the speed of intra-frame transcoding while maintaining similar PSNR and bit rate.
