A method of contour cluster structuralizing is proposed based on curve bends recognition, aiming at the extraction of relief structure.First, the method of curve bends recognition based on Delaunay triangulation is improved. The improvements include the mergence of bogus bends, the adjustment of endpoints, and the deletion of illegal bends.Based on these,a hierarchical and a parallel relationship between bends are constructed for the curve bends recognition. Then,in order to realize the structuralization of contour cluster, some methods are implemented, which distinguish the type of bends according to the spatial relation between single contours, and extract bend sets from contour cluster based on the spatial proximity between curves. As a result, not only the valleys but also the symmetrical structure ridges which both are represented by the contour cluster are recognized. The experiment result which is overlaid with the drainage system shows that the relief structure extracted by this method is reasonable, which proved the validation of the method.
