Wireless sensor networks(WSN) consist of a lot of sensor nodes, which can sense the environment and communicate using wireless link.It is widely used in environment observation and object tracking. In WSN,the position of sink node is related to the per-formance and life-time of the network, and is tightly bond up with the deployment and topology of it.How the position of sink effect the performance and life-time of WSN is analyzed. In addition,a sink election protocol is proposed to improve the total energy consumed index and network life-time index. The simulation illustrates that,WSN running the protocol can rapidly vote a sink which has the best mixed index at low cost. And it also has a perfect ability of self-organizing.
