New Developments and Applications of Very Low Bit Rate Speech Coding

Low bit rate speech compression can be achieved through time domain coding, frequency domain coding and hybrid approaches. In this way, LPC, CELP, MBE, STC, VQ, MELP, WI, Segmental Vocoders and Corpus based Vocoders are introduced separately in this paper. Algorithms and new research results in very low bit rate speech coding is presented thoroughly in this paper, and conclusions are given through comparison and analysis.
