The Image Coding Based on the FLWT and New Zerotree Set

The image coding based on the FLWT and new zerotree set(NZC) is proposed in this paper. It can be viewed as an improved version of SPIHT algorithm. But, in our NZC algorithm, the fast lifting wavelet transform is adopted, no lists are used during encoding/decoding and the SPIHT's sorting strategy is revised. The experiment results show that the PSNR values from NZC are slightly lower than SPIHT's, and encoding/decoding time from NZC is greatly less than SPIHT's.
