Analysis of Consonance of Musical Tone Based on Auditory Image Model

An auditory image model is established on the basis of previous physiological and psychophysical researches to reveal intrinsic relationship between physical hearing mechanism and subjective perception on consonance of musical tone.Study results show that auditory images derived by the model are highly correlative with subjective perception.A steady musical tone leads to a steady auditory image.Moreover,the consonance of musical tone can be described by the quantity of bright stripes and forked structures in auditory image.In short,the method proves efficient in evaluating consonance of musical tone.
