TCP-friendly Congestion Control Mechanism Based on Making Full Use of the Available Bandwidth

Chang Liu · Jisuanji gongcheng · 2003

When applications based on TCP share bandwidth with applications based on UDP, applications based on UDP rarely perform congestion control, in order to avoid these applications occupy the network exclusively, UDP should compete with TCP in a TCP-friendly manner. This paper presents a TCP-friendly congestion control mechanism. On the basis of ensuring the send rate of UDP flow less than that of TCP, make use of the left available bandwidth send best-effort flow, and the enhanced RED gateway differentiates the marked and unmarked packets.
