Cryptanalyzing an Image Encryption Algorithm Based on Bilateral Diffusion

An image encryption algorithm is proposed based on bilateral diffusion.The security of cryptosystem must depend only on the secrecy of the key rather than the secrecy of the algorithm.Thus,the purpose of cryptanalysis is to reveal the keystream.The paper shows that the whole keystream can be broken with a combination of chosen-plaintext attack and known-plaintext attack.Moreover,we modify the algorithm based on bilateral diffusion and adopt the methods of adding permutation and multiple rounds for encryption to enhance the security of the algorithm.
