Research on Creation of Navigation Road-net Map Based on GPS Signals

Based on the analysis of the characteristics and defects of the traditional method to create electronic maps(E-maps) and the requirement of road net in E-maps used for vehicle navigation,this paper present a new method to create road net through the planar information provided by the GPS signals.The idea,implementation,advantages,disadvantages as well as improvement of the method are also discussed in this paper especially the road net relationship between the new roads and old ones,and the attributes of newly generated road nodes using GPS signals. The author′s practical application indicates that this method could be used in generating of E-maps based on GPS signals.
