Organization strategies of vector spatio-temporal data in GIS

As a difficult problem in theory and technique of GIS,temporal GIS gets more and more attention.Aiming at the vector spatio-temporal data, some organization strategies are brought forward from practical viewpoint.Firstly, the precision of time is second, and time is represented with the number.Secondly, the discrete change is described with state and event, and the continuous change is described with event.Thirdly, the reality data and history data are separated, and the spatial data and attributive data are separated. Finally, time is signed on the record, and non-topological data model is adopted to organize spatial data.Based on these, the temporal layer of vector data is divided into twelve types, and some relational tables of the temporal layer are designed. An experiment system is designed and realized. Then some experiments are done with patch data and vehicle track data. The results show that these proposed strategies are feasible.
