The Studies on the Trust Formation of Alliance: A Critical Appraisal

As a sort of permanent group states behavior, alliance is the research object of many IR theories. However, the available alliance formation theories and trust theories in IR ignore one question, that is the trust formation of alliances or among the potential allies; furthermore, they also ignore the disposition of alliance trust. Actually, the disposition of alliance trust is vital to the stability and change of an alliance, and the discussion of the typology of trust and its formation mechanism has great implication to theory building and practice of IR.
