To solve the problem of reality in real-time application of clouds, the cellular automata is used to simulation cloud, the rendering of clouds are divided into two stages,pre-processing and real-time rendering;shadow relation table and metaball lighting texture database are proposed to speed up the rendering efficiency;Besides, the phase function of the lighting scattering model is improved,it can generate clouds anisotropy in the view direction. The experiment shows that, this method can improve the fidelity of clouds without sacrificing rendering efficiently and capable of producing a true three-dimensional illumination clouds to meet a variety of real-time application needs.
