Improvement of ARPS Based on Fast Motion Estimation in Video Encoding
Tao Wang · Jisuanji gongcheng · 2005
This paper improves the two aspects of ARPS-2 (1, when computing predicted vectors, reduces the numbers of adopted surrounding blocks so as to reduce computational cost; 2, makes the four arm lengths of the pattern vary with the position of searched points, and the pattern more elastic than ARPS-2 in size and direction), and thereby puts forward a better search algorithm N-ARPS. The experimental results show that N-ARPS is better than ARPS-2 on computational cost while it’s average PSNR is the same as that of ARPS-2, and is closer to FS than ARPS-2 on bit rate distortion.
