On the Design of WLAN IEEE802.11g Signal Detection Algorithms for Hardware Implementation

The implementation of signal detection algorithms used in WLAN (IEEE802.11) baseband system is proposed. Based on burst transmission character, a simple and robust signal detection hardware implementation is needed. In this paper, we analyzed and compared several signal detection algorithms, which were performed based on the short training sequences transmitted in front of each packet, for IEEE802.11a and IEEE802.11b systems, A series of Monte-Carlo simulations were conducted to evaluate the performance of these algorithms, and chose proper one of them to implemented in FPGA.
