Computer Network Research Challenged By The Next Generation Internet

As a hallmark , computer and information industry indicate humanity entering the knowledge economy era . The researches and developments on computer network have made a great achievement. Especially, with the popularizing and application of Internet in the world, science, economy and social have been revolutionized . At the end of this century we are interested the future of computer network and Internet. The Next Generation Internet will provide better service, support more application, and permeate deeply to various fields,which will change the people's life mode. All of these present the serious challenges to computer network RD. In this paper, we discuss the basic development tendency firstly. Then, we introduce the current hot points on computer network and the basic characteristics of the future network . Finally, we prospect the development of Next Generation Internet (NGI), and present the necessary researches for implementing NGI.
