Geography is a science that investigates mutual relationships and interactions between natural and human elements on the earth's surface.Methodological innovation in Geography has been accelerated by the process of adaptation of theory and methods of modern sciences.Influenced by the development and contact with natural and social sciences,quantitative and systematic researches have transformed the broad character of geographical research from static,qualitative description to dynamic,quantitative analysis.The methodologies for data mining and knowledge discovering are introduced,and DEM data mining for abstracting the drainage basin are studied as an example.
