Preparation and Structural Determination of Co(III) Acetylacetonate

Iron(Ⅲ) acetylacetonate was prepared and characterized by IR and X-ray diffraction.The results show: the complex is Fe(C5H7O2)3;the crystal belongs to the Orthorhombic crystal group Pbca,Unit cell parameters a =7.922(5),b=8.165(5),c=11.022(6),α=85.872(8)°,β=81.511(8)°,γ=82.696(8)°,V=698.4(7)3,Mr=304.26,Z=2,Dc=1.447g/cm3,F(000)=316,μ=0.115mm-1,R1=0.0761,wR2 = 0.1795.The results show that in complex Fe(acac)3,each Fe(Ⅲ) is six-coordinated by six O atoms from three ligands and adopts a distorted octahedral coordination geometry.
