Rate-based Congestion Control Algorithm for Networks Fairness Enhancement

Pingping Xiao · Jisuanji fangzhen · 2009

From end-to-end strategy to router congestion control,a rate-based and enhanced-fairness congestion control mechanism (RFCC) was proposed,in view of the problem of the unfair usage to the network resources caused by non-connection UDP flows. The senders could adjust the sending rate of UDP flows by TCP response function. The routers executed early congestion state of network feedback to the senders using ECN,and adopted ERED algorithm to improve the situation where the bandwidth was influenced by packet size in the router. The receivers calculated packet loss rate used by Markov chain. The simulations validate that RFCC flows can friendly share the bandwidth of bottle-neck links with TCP flows, and enhance fairness of network resources allotment.
