Application of the generalized gaussian distribution in data visualization

The generalized Gaussian distribution is a class of symmetrical distribution with the Gaussian distribution as a special case,and is widely used in science and engineering.In this paper,the Gabor phase distribution is modeled by using the generalized Gaussian density.The dimensionality of estimated model parameters is reduced to 2 or 3 by PCA.The graphical representation of information structure of data set realizes the data visualization.Experiments are performed on COIL-100 databases to validate the feasibility of the proposed method,in which the data set without Euclidean representation is modeled by the generalized Gaussian density.
