Risk Assessment and Maintenance Decision for Transmission and Transformation Equipments

Life Circle Cost(LCC) and Condition Based Maintenance(CBM) are 2 important tools to achieve Asset Management(AM) in power system. Risk assessment for running equipment is an effective method to combine both their advantages. How to calculate the risk value and how to make risk decision are 2 most difficult problems. This paper proposes the risk assessment method based on former work and condition assessment result of equipments. Equipment loss, safety and environment loss, system loss and social loss are included. Then a risk model based on monetary indices is built. Finally maintenance decision is made by the benefit and cost.
