Ad hoc Networks Congestion Control Analysis Using Active Queue Management

Hong Zhang · Journal of Nantong University · 2008

This paper used active queue management(AQM)to control the queue size of wireless bottleneck nodes for congestion control because of the wireless characterization. The data was analyzed and compared based on NS2 simulation. Therefore,it is possible to use AQM to control congestion in middle wireless nodes. However, not all AQM can be used in Ad hoc networks.Although the performance of RED is good in wired network,it is improper for Ad hoc congestion control. It is found that the performance of Random Exponential Mark(REM)varies significantly when loads vary. When loads increase, performance of REM decreases.PI arithmetic can control the queue size of Ad hoc nodes and the range of queue shake well when loads vary.
