Objective To investigate the effect of spironolactone on the cardiac function in patients with acute myocardial infarction through Tei indexMethods One hundred patients with first acute myocardial infarction were selected and randomly divided into two groups.Fifty cases in control group were given routine therapy and fifty cases in spironolactone group were given 20mg spironolactone once a day on the basis of the same routine therapy as controls. The levels of Tei index were measured before and after the treatment of 6 months. Results There was no significant difference in Tei index between the two groups before treatment(P0.05).But the levels of Tei index in spironolactone group were significantly lower than those of control group after treatment(P0.01).Conclusion Spironolactone could improve the cardiac function for patients with acute myocardial infarction.Tei index could be chosen as the index to evaluate the cardiac function for patients with acute myocardial infarction
