The Contents and Methods for Usability Evaluation of Electronic Map

Usability evaluation is a new work in the field of cartography.In this paper,the concept and the main contents of usability evaluation of electronic map are introduced.Then the methods like usability testing,heuristic evaluation,cognitive browse and task analysis are described.With that,their virtues and shortcomings are discussed.At last,usability evaluation is tested to be an effective way to improve the quality of electronic map usability,and is the core of map design.
