This paper describes the organization, management and sharing of massive spatial data using distributed spatial database in Railway Geographic Information System (RGIS). A three-tier model including the center, sub-center and child-center is proposed. The spatial data is consistent in the whole and can be locally kept. The basic railway spatial database is consists of vector and grid data with different scales. Replication and persistent cache is adopted to access and synchronize the spatial database. Replication maintains a replica database of a master database. The replica database can be a full or partial mirror image of a master database. Persistent cache preserves part of remote spatial data. And all of local access requests are passed to persistent cache.
