An Improvement of TCP Performance on Ad hoc Networks

The frequent route breakage,caused by frequent mobility of nodes in wireless ad hoc networks and instability of wireless channel,brings about severe performance degradation of TCP.In this paper,an improvement on DSR was proposed,in which prediction of the link state was introduced.In erms of the prediction,the decision of whether or not the route is in risk can be made and proactive route maintenance algorithms can do fast switching of route before route broken.A lot of simulation was made,and the results demonstrate that improved DSR can enhance TCP performance effectively,especially when nodes are in frequent motion.
