Design and application of data cache need-based synchronization

Zhou Jing-hui · IEEE Software · 2013

Data cache can significantly improve reading performance, but timely synchronization is also needed to ensure the realtimeness of cached data. The instant synchronization triggered by data source variation is a general resolution. But the frequent synchronizations triggered by rapid data changes under heavy pressure may negatively impact server performance and communication efficiency. The data cache need-based synchronization introduced in this pager can customize the synchronization strategies on business needs,so that server performance and communication efficiency are improved meanwhile all realtime requirements are still met. This resolution has been successfully implemented in UniBase,a distributed memory database developed by the author's team, and proven its feasibility in real projects.
